Counselling and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping)
Counselling Sometimes life can be overwhelming and we need a safe space to be heard. While friends and family can offer great support they can't always provide the non-judgemental listening space that counselling allows. However, counselling is not just about having a chat. The conversation has a purpose and different tools can be used during the session to support your needs. Commonly these are decision making tools and stress reduction tools. There is a misconception that people go to counselling to be told what to do, although a counsellor does not give advice. This is due to a central component in person centered counselling that you are the expert in your own life. You've lived your own unique life and your current situation has nuances that are particular to you. Your values need to be at the heart of your decision making, but sometimes we can get stuck in indecision. The first step is through stress reduction, that's where Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping) really brings clarity to the core issues of a situation. Sometimes clarity can bring a sense of peace, closure or empowerment to make a decision regarding your next step. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping) Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT aka Tapping) is a simple yet incredibly empowering technique to reduce stress. An EFT session can focus on and be beneficial for *Stress reduction *Grief *Coping with ongoing work stress, especially in caring careers (Nursing, Veterinary, Counsellors, Health Care Professionals etc) *Coping with change, e.g. relationship endings, career changes, children leaving home What is EFT? EFT is a process where you tap gently with two fingers on specific points of the primo vascular system that is used in accupuncture. The tapping is combined with key wording and phrases that are specific to your situation. How does a clinical EFT session differ from what I see on social media? Many people find pre-sccripted social media content that guides them through tapping beneficial. A clinical EFT session will be focused on your specific experience, the nuances and wording that resonates with you making it more effective. What to expect in an individual session. At the start of the session, if EFT is new to you I will guide you through a short experience of this simple process. Then we will spend some time discussing your intent for the session. Considering the focus of the session I will choose an appropriate technique to safely support you to work towards achieving your intentions. Throughout the process I will guide you through the tapping points as you go. Before the session ends I will guide you through a process to support you to feel calm, peaceful and grounded so you can go about the rest of your day in peace. All individual sessions are online, via zoom. Group EFT/Tapping I host a montly group EFT/Tapping in person through meetup.
